Diamonds in the Ruff classes are all about living
with FAMILY dogs in a family-setting.

We use humane training methods based on positive reinforcement
and a sound understanding of animal behavior and learning theory.

We understand how dogs learn.

Our training methods are hands-off, dog-friendly and based on the scientific principles of learning theory. As you might imagine, not all dog trainers approach training in the same way. Spokane has a wide variety of dog trainers, from traditional jerk-and-push obedience instructors to mixed-methods instructors to positive motivational trainers that encourage your dog to think. Before you choose a professional dog trainer or sign up for an obedience class, you should make sure you are comfortable with applying his or her methods to your own dog or puppy.

We encourage whole family participation - older children who will take part in the dog's training are welcome to attend classes with their parents. Consistency is key. Dogs do best when everyone is using the same cues, has the same expectations and gives consistent feedback. Our lessons include: grooming, pack leadership, safety and good manners with children and visitors. Our primary goal, to help you better understand your canine companion and communicate with him or her effectively.

"I am amazed at the magic of dogs! I feel like I am just becoming dimly aware of a whole world that I didn't even know existed! They are so incredible - their social system, their reasoning, their willingness to work with us people who don't understand them very well and who think we are trying to teach them! You and Dana and the rest are great. Thanks for all." -Glenmar F.
