the story ... continued

It's official, my new name is Benny.
Dad calls me "Ben Jammin"

(Yeah - more pictures will be appearing here on this page ... mom can't help it.)

They like me - they really like me!
This is my big brother Basil.

I'm offically one of the crew!
That's Basil on the left, he's 8 years old - and Zephyr on the right. He's really old - 17!

Dad tells the funniest jokes ... (he always laughs the loudest at them!)

OH! There's Mom and that camera again!!!

Can't we have any privacy?

Surgery was scheduled for Oct 8 - but Dr. Russ sent us home!

Great news! When they took pre-surgery x-rays, they found that in the past 3 weeks since our last x-ray, there's been a whole lotta healin' goin' on! Dr. Russ advised us to continue the splint for another 3 weeks and then re-x-ray and see what's happening. He said there's no guarantee that it won't need surgery, but there's no harm in waiting AND he thinks there's a 90% chance that the bones will continue to heal and fuse into one "super bone" which will actually be stronger than the bones in his healthy leg! (Please don't tell him about the Super Bone ... he already needs a cape and the S on his chest - he really believes he can fly!)

Thanks for all the well-wishes! Keep sending all that positive energy his way!

This is me with my new fiberglas cast. Hopefully this one will be the last I'll ever have to wear.
Mom bought me special dog booties to keep it clean (since I like to dig holes in the mud, even with my cast!)
Notice I like to sleep on the back of the couch like the cat. It has a great view!

Sometimes I fall asleep sitting up - dad says, "don't fall off the couch, Benny!"

Keep checking back - updates often!
