My name
is Eddie, and I am a whippet - What's a whippet? A whippet is a medium-sized
type of greyhound. We can run very fast - about 35 mph! The whippet is the
FASTEST breed of dog for it's size.
But being fast isn't all I do. I am a DELTA certified "Pet Assisted Therapy" animal. Which means that I passed a bunch of tests to make sure I have the right temperament, personality, and skills to do my job visiting children and adults in local hospitals..
One of my jobs is to visit children at the local schools. I demonstrate tricks,
deliver messages to children, look for my 'squeaky banana' (one of my favorite
games) and show children how to properly meet dogs on-the-street. I see about
four-thousand kids each year - WOW!

The other job I have is to visit patients at some of our local hospitals and
rehab units. Being in the hospital isn't fun for most people. I give kisses
and hugs and snuggle up to some patients - while others may need some help
in learning how to hold things. They can brush me (gently please), or maybe
a good game of tug-o-war to strengthen a muscle or retrieving 'squeaky banana'!
I LOVE my 'squeaky banana'!!!

I also have had a bit of acting experience. My episode of "Shopping With Eddie"
for Pet Stuff, a local pet supply store, aired locally during the Westminster
Dog Show. My most recent work was for a TV ad for the Medical Service Corporation.
I got all my good habits and training by going to school. I own a man who
helps run a dog training school. It's called "Diamonds
in the Ruff" - cool name huh! I wasn't always a good dog - I really
wanted to be good, I just didn't know how. But I learned; and it was fun and
exciting and I found out I could do all sorts of things. Sometimes people
would laugh at what I did. I like to make people laugh - it seems to be good
for them.
