STORE HOURS:

The store is a fundraiser for SpokAnimal CARE. We love that your purchases are helping less fortunate animals. The training studio is not open during non-class hours. If you'd like to pop in to shop, check the online schedule and plan to drop by just before class is scheduled to start or at the end of the scheduled class time. You may tip-toe in to make purchases without your dog during class. Just add up your purchases and slip your $ to the assistant, just be careful not to disrupt the class in session. Checks or cash only - makes checks payable to SpokAnimal CARE.

CONTACT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS:

DO DOGS ATTEND WEEK ONE?

Beginning level, No.
The first week orientation of Puppy class and Headstart is training the human end of the leash, dogs stay home.
We do like to have one or two social, food-motivated dogs to use as "demo dogs" week one. If you think your dog would be comfortable working with the instructor and has good demo potential, or if your dog is shy and would benefit from the extra exposure of attending week one, please email.

Intermediate and Advanced level, Yes.
Dogs DO attend the first week of intermediate and advanced level classes.

ARE THERE MAKE-UPS?

If you are unable to attend your scheduled class due to emergency or illness, you may attend another class in the corresponding week. Please contact your instructor as early as possible to make arrangements for a make-up or email or call Carol at 328-6959. Do you have a crazy work schedule which makes attendance the same night each week difficult or impossible? Call or email Carol to discuss flexible attendance possibilities prior to registering.

CANCELLATIONS/TRANSFERS:

Because our classes are limited to 8-10 students per class, classes frequently fill weeks in advance. Last minute cancellations and transfers can wreak havoc with the balance of the class registrations. We hate it when we mark a class "full" and turn people away, and then find out too late to offer them the spot. Please check your calendar carefully and plan to attend the class you sign up for. Should you find that you are unable to attend as planned, please email or call Carol at 328-6959 as early as possible to make arrangements to transfer to a future class.

Transfers must be taken within 60 days. No refunds.

ANIMAL-ASSISTED ACTIVITIES/THERAPY (PET THERAPY)

Dogs who visit hospitals and nursing homes with their able-bodied handlers as a volunteer service. They do not have full public access, only access to the facilities where they are "on staff" as visiting therapy animals. Contact the Delta Society for more information about evaluations and requirements.

Basic manners and obedience are the cornerstone of Assistance and Therapy dog training. The Canine Good Citizen test is a good starting goal for anyone pursuing either of these goals. CGC classes and evaluations are held several times per year.
