We are as frustrated as you are when we get a request for classes or behavior advice and can't reach the caller!

Trouble shooting the problem:

E-mail glitches:

AOL delays.
For whatever reason, I consistently get "delivery status notifications" that say that my replies have been delayed when emailing to AOL addresses. If you have AOL, my reply may not get to you the same day it was sent, so be patient. More recently, I receive emails from AOL addresses just fine, but when I reply, I get "delivery failed" notices. In this case I will email from my other account, which seems to go through ok.

Spam catchers sometimes intercept "good" emails as well as bad, so they get sent to your or my junk mailbox. With the sheer volume of junk emails, it's often difficult to spot the "real" mail amongst the garbage and they get missed. If you are emailing from work, many companies have a firewall that prevents you from getting our email replies.

Full mailboxes. Sometimes when your email box gets full, I get a bounce back notice - but not always. If it is for a registration and I have your mailing address, I will send your confirmation via snail mail. If you don't hear back within 24 hours, email again.

Online registration form failure. No technology is perfect. Our registration form is a free service provided by an outside provider. We don't have control of when they have glitches of their own. Unless you see the Thank You page with the jumping dog on a what-to-do-next page, your registration wasn't actually sent. Sometimes, even if you get the Thank You page, your email registration doesn't make it to my mailbox. If you don't hear from me within 24 hours, email.

ditr(UNDERSCORE)training@hotmail.com ... ditr_training@hotmail.com. If you accidently typed ditr-training, it goes to someone else, not me. *S* This is also our PayPal account email.

Misspelled/misheard email addresses. If you said "johnsmith at ... but it's johnsmythe at ... even if you spelled it out on a phone message, I might not have been able to make it out. You will be prompted to enter your email address twice on the online registration form to make sure it's correct, but if you type it in wrong twice, it still won't get to you. Don't forget to list the provider: AOL, MSN, EARTHLINK and dot net, dot com? If it goes to the hinterlands and doesn't bounce back, I won't know you didn't receive it.

Phone failures:

Can you hear me now? Garbled voice mail is particularly frustrating. Cell phones are the worst, voice mail recordings are often muffled, faint or cut out. Speak slowly and clearly and give your number twice, spell your last name so I can look it up in the phone book if I can't make out the numbers. Better yet, email!

Work schedules and answering machines. We teach in the evenings and Saturdays when most people are home from work and available to take calls. For this reason it can be very difficult to connect by phone unless you have a work number or an answering machine. Please leave a detailed message describing your situation and I will try to leave the answer on your voice mail. When in doubt, email -it's usually the easiest way for me to give complete info that you will get any time of the day or night.

Work numbers - occasionally someone doesn't leave their name or I'm unable to make out their name on the message, and when I call a work number, I don't know who to ask for and am unable to track down who "called about dog training."

No number. You would be surprised how many people leave lengthy descriptive messages ending with "please call me" and don't leave a phone number and only a first name. "Hi this is Susan with Buddy, I really need you to call me ..."

Hard to understand callers. I'm terrible at making out thick accents on already hard to hear voice mail and young children often leave messages that are unclear and hard to decipher. Again, please speak clearly and slowly and spell difficult names.

Thank you for your patience in making connections!!
